What does a HIFU treatment do?
A High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment safely stimulates collagen production without damage to the skin or underlying structures. HIFU works by delivering focused ultrasound energy at various depths in the skin layers, from the epidermis to the SMAS layer. These sound waves are converted into heat, which causes the subcutaneous connective tissue to contract and visibly tighten the skin.
This leads to a natural lifting effect without surgery. During treatment, one experiences a palpable heat stimulation. HIFU can be effectively applied to various areas, such as:
- Jawline
- Eyes
- Cheeks
- Double chin
- Neck
- Cleavage
- Arms

How does a HIFU treatment work?
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) treatment is an effective, non-invasive procedure that works at three different depths in the skin, including the SMAS layer, which is also achieved in facelifts. The treatment begins by cleansing the skin to remove any dirt or makeup. A conductive gel is then applied to ensure optimal conduction of the ultrasound waves.
At Skincenters, we use Zimmer's Relift with medical CE for HIFU treatment. The head of the device emits ultrasonic energy that generates heat, which stimulates collagen production and provides a lifting effect. The treatment time varies depending on the treatment plan and the treatment area, but takes between 15 and 90 minutes on average. After treatment, the first skin tightening is visible after about a month, with the full effect developing over three months.

Who is a HIFU treatment suitable for?
A HIFU treatment is ideal for people looking for an effective way to tighten the skin without surgery. The treatment is suitable for anyone with mild to moderate skin laxity, such as a sagging jawline, fine lines or wrinkles. In particular, people who want natural skin rejuvenation without recovery time or scarring can benefit from HIFU

Preparation and aftercare for a HIFU treatment
HIFU is a non-invasive treatment with minimal downtime. Thus, no specific preparation is required.
If possible, we ask that you come to your appointment without makeup. It is also best not to apply self-tanner or spray tan to the area to be treated.
Maximum results are achieved about 3 months after the HIFU procedure. The stimulation of collagen production can persist even up to 6 months after the treatment.
There is minimal downtime after the treatment, although the skin may be temporarily more sensitive.
After treatment, it is best not to apply products to the skin immediately.
The days after treatment it is recommended not to wear makeup or only mineral makeup (this allows the skin to breathe). The first week you should avoid intense sports (sweating) as well as visiting the sauna.
