Photofacial - IPL

What is a photofacial?
An IPL photofacial, also known as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, is an effective method to address skin problems such as pigmentation, redness, and uneven complexion. This treatment uses pulses of light that penetrate deep into the skin to stimulate natural skin renewal and promote a radiant, even complexion. At Skincenters, we work with advanced IPL equipment for safe and long-lasting results.

What does a photofacial treatment do?
An IPL photofacial stimulates collagen production and helps reduce pigmentation, redness, and fine lines. The light pulses are targeted to specific skin problems, which are heated subcutaneously. This breaks down damaged tissue, and the skin regains its bright and youthful appearance. Ideal for those who want smoother skin without intensive or invasive procedures.

How does IPL treatment work?
At the start of the treatment, we cleanse the skin and apply a gel for optimal contact. Our specialist adjusts the IPL equipment to your skin type and goals. The light pulses are directed at the skin, which produces a brief heat pulse. The duration of the treatment varies, depending on the area, but on average an IPL treatment takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Immediately after treatment, the skin may be a bit red, which subsides within a few hours to days.

Who is an IPL photofacial suitable for?
An IPL photofacial is suitable for people who suffer from pigmentation spots, rosacea, fine lines, and a dull complexion. This treatment provides relief for various skin types and is ideal for those looking for skin rejuvenation without invasive surgery. For those with darker skin or active acne, another treatment may be better suited, which will be discussed during the intake interview with our specialist.

Preparation and aftercare for IPL treatment
Preparation: Avoid tanning, self-tanners and products with active ingredients such as retinol in the weeks prior to treatment. Well-hydrated skin produces better results, so make sure your skin is well hydrated before treatment.
Aftercare: After the IPL treatment, it is important to properly protect the skin with SPF 50 to prevent pigmentation changes caused by the sun. The skin may be temporarily sensitive or slightly red, which recovers within a few days. For several days after treatment, avoid intense heat sources such as saunas and hot water.
