Stretch marks

Stretch marks

What are stretch marks and where do they come from?

Stretch marks are red, sometimes purplish or white stripes on the body, measuring a few centimetres long by a few millimetres wide. They occur when a part of the body grows too fast. Too fast for the skin. This causes the connective tissue inside to tear. These tears are also visible on the surface and can sometimes be painful. Stretch marks are actually subcutaneous scars. Over time, the redness diminishes and becomes white, which is also when the stretch marks are most difficult to treat.

Treatment

The reference treatment for scars, and in this case, for stretch marks, is based on fractional radio frequency. At Skincenters, we chose Infini by Lurtronic. The technique consists of destroying the damaged fibres and then stimulating the production of new collagen in the scar to make the scar more supple and less bulky. To do this, one uses applicators equipped with micro-needles to treat the zones in depth and ensure the best possible results. The treatment is carried out in 3 to 6 sessions of 30 to 60 minutes. Secondly, other technologies can be used, such as lasers, and more specifically a combination of an ND:Yap and an ER:Yag laser: the former will stimulate collagen production deep inside the skin while the Erbium laser will puncture the epidermis to cause both collagen stimulation and skin renewal. With these treatments, the scar will close from the inside out, as it were.

Note: the duration and results of a treatment may vary from person to person and are therefore only indicative.
