What is collagen?
Collagen is the “glue” that holds everything together, organ and tissue, the skin too of course! Collagen is our most important structural protein together with elastin. With 70%, collagen is one of the main constituents of connective tissue in human skin. Collagen is responsible for skin firmness and elasticity. After the 25th year of life, collagen production decreases progressively (by about 1% per year). As a result, the skin ages and wrinkles appear, the skin becomes saggier. External factors also influence the breakdown of collagen fibres in the skin. The sun, smoking, but also the regular intake of refined carbs.
Treatment
The reference treatment for skin tightening by collagen production is based on fractional radio frequency. The technique consists of completely destroying the weakened and broken down fibers and then stimulating the production of new collagen in the deep dermis to give your skin a new youth. To do this, at Skincenters we use applicators equipped with 50 microneedles to treat the zones in the deep dermis and ensure the best possible results. The treatment is carried out in 3 to 6 sessions of 30 to 60 minutes. Secondly, other technologies can be used such as HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) which, with the help of high-intensity sound waves, create holes in the deep dermis to destroy old collagen and create new. Laser can also be used, for instance a combination of an ND:Yap and an ER:Yag laser: The first go deep inside the skin to stimulate collagen production while the Erbium laser will puncture the epidermis to cause both collagen stimulation and skin renewal. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), Ultrasound, or external bipolar radio frequency can also be used.
